Old fashioned, cold process lard soap, from my "soaping with Saints" series, borne of my love of history, theology, inspiring women, and faith.

Francesca (Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini) - Warm and rich with bergamot, nutmeg, vanilla and fragrant woods such as cedar, patchouli and sandalwood.

Frances "Mother Cabrini" is the first American Saint and the patron Saint of immigrants. She is particularly loved amongst the Italian-American community.

Francesca Saveria Cabrini was born in Sant’Angelo Lodigiano Lombardy, Italy, one of eleven children. She became a nun in 1877 in Italy and in 1880 founded the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus with six other sisters. In 1889 Pope Leo XIII sent Cabrini to New York to help the many poor Italian immigrants there. She became a U.S. citizen and went on to found sixty-seven missionary institutions around the country, including one in Golden, Colorado, the Queen of Heaven Orphanage Summer Camp. Cabrini came to Colorado in 1902 to visit Italian immigrant mine workers. She loved the mountains and purchased the Lookout Mountain site in 1910. There, the Sisters of the Sacred Heart built a convent and farmed, and orphan girls visited the site as a summer camp. A stairway traces the path that Mother Cabrini walked up the mountain. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Lard soaps yield a gentle cleansing action, soft and creamy lather and a bar that is hard and long-lasting. All soaps are hand poured, trimmed, beveled and polished during the curing process. All bars have natural variation in finish and color due to the nature of being handcrafted, and there can be variation from batch to batch.

Old fashioned lard soap is made through a cold process, using lye, which creates a chemical reaction between the fat, yielding... soap. Contrary to popular belief, lye soap isn't harsh. Soap that is properly cured will not be drying or irritating to the skin. Lard is a fat most similar to the sebum produced by our own skin, making it gentle and suitable for sensitive or dry skin.
