OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE dragon's agate Large 5 decade Rosary
This large sized Rosary is inspired by Our Lady of Guadalupe, and artwork by Salvador Dali. The Ave beads are 10mm, giving this Rosary a much more substantial feel in the hands than the 8mm beads I typically use.
Ave beads are semi-precious dragon's vein agate in earthy tones of greens, yellows, browns and oranges. Golden Czech seed beads and red Agate spacer beads appear in between each Ave, framed by bronze tone bead caps. The Pater beads are Quartz, framed by iridescent faceted glass beads in harvest hues.
The center features Our Lady of Guadalupe, and crucifix are bronze tone metal.
Another influence of this Rosary is a passage from Clarissa Pinkola Este's book, "Unleash the Strong Woman", which I'm in the middle of reading. Pinkola Estes is a Catholic woman, but her magnetic work draws in women from all faiths and walks of life.
In one passage, she describes Our Lady - "The Mother I carry with me everywhere is the woods-woman La Nuestra Señora, Guadalupe, she whose green mantle is fashioned of moss from the north side of trees ... and star shards caught in her wild silver hair ... and her gown is soft, coarse woven cloth with the thorns and flowers of wild roses caught in it, and she has dirty hands from growing things earthy, and from her day and night work alongside her hard-working sons and daughters, their children, their elders, all."
